Job Summary


Landis + Gyr have embarked on a major initiative together with Google to migrate its business operations and develop world class energy management solutions on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The Sr (Google) Cloud Architect will serve as the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) SME within the Landis+Gyr team and wider partner eco-system. This role will take part in and lead architecture projects, design, and development projects in the GCP cloud space using automated orchestration and configuration management techniques.  

 


Key Responsibilities:


•    Architecture the production of conceptual, solution, and component level architectures addressing functional and non-functional qualities, including availability, resiliency, security, privacy, observability, automation, etc.  
•    Advising/Mentoring - Provide advice and guidance to team leads regarding technical and design decisions. 
•    Contribute to or lead the definition of standards, guidance, and points-of-view that enable engineers to thrive. 
•    Review, advise, and provide feedback on architectures produced within and outside the team. 
•    Partner with parties inside and outside L+G to meet security goals and pave the way for digital transformation and modernization. 
•    Engage in designing and implementing secure and compliant enterprise servers, network infrastructure, boundary protection, and cloud architectures. 
•    Understand and utilize the native services of other technologies of GCP. 
•    Leading the authoring and peer review of detailed design documentation, including security documentation, and implementing best practice.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

•    Google Cloud Architect certified 
•    Ability to architect and build cloud solutions to effectively meet the strategic needs of the company.  
•    Providing technical leadership throughout all phases of projects from the requirements phase through the deployment / support phases. 
•    Experienced in designing and building cloud architectures in GCP preferred including cloud-first and cloud-native solutions. 
•    Ability to evaluate new technologies and stay ahead of industry trends. 
•    Experience with common GCP architecture patterns. 
•    A strong software engineering and/or architecture background is required. 
•    Demonstrated DevOps expertise including automation and CI/CD, with deep involvement in continuous delivery automation, and the integration of cloud-native services to create fully functioning, cohesive delivery pipelines. 
•    Windows and Linux operating system installation, configuration, and management. 
•    Developing, deploying, and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible. 
•    Managing IaC and CI/CD pipelines using Git and Gitlab. 
•    Implementing container-based solutions utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts. 
•    Experience addressing operational and non-functional concerns (e.g. horizontal & vertical scalability, performance, maintainability, load distribution, resilience and recovery, etc.). 
•    Desire and ability to understand diverse business domains and develop architectures that meet the current and anticipated business needs across a broad set of partners. 

 

 

 

Education and Experience:


•    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
•    At least 5 years of experience in the domain of cloud platform architecture

 

 

 

 Working Conditions/Physical Requirements/Safety/PPE/OHSAS: 


•    Working Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc. 
  
•    Physical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English. •    Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSAS-18001 Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $106,152 - $169,024 per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
