Software Implementation Manager (SIM)

Position Summary


The Software Implementation Manager (SIM) is responsible for the functional implementation and delivery of Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream MDMS solution to clients using a structured implementation approach to ensure high quality. Persons in this role will evaluate client contractual requirements and propose MDMS based solutions to meet those requirements. The SIM will also have primary accountability for the complete configuration and validation of MDMS to achieve client acceptance and satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary functional resource that collaborates with the client throughout the MDMS software implementation project.
  • Lead software implementation planning and design tasks and collaborate with technical resources from other departments as required.
  • Prepare for and lead technical workshops to gather requirements and set technical expectations with clients as required.
  • Prepare functional, technical, and interface specifications.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other supporting resources on the project team.
  • Work with clients to establish testing plans and test cases.
  • Ensure as-built solutions meets customer requirements, are properly documented, and appropriate knowledge transfer is conducted to on-going product support team.
  • Establish and monitor system performance reporting, recognize adverse trends, and take necessary preventative and corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot system operational and performance issues and propose remedy options.
  • Provide root cause analysis and/or resolution to technical issues support L2, L3, Engineering, Product Management and other resources when required.
  • Work closely with technical resources to resolve complex issues relating to system infrastructure such as operating system, database, application server, and ancillary components.
  • Provide functional and operational recommendations into the New Product Introduction (NPI) process based on client feedback.
  • Support creation of standard operating procedures for functional elements of the system that are effective and repeatable.
  • Interact with project, technical and development resources throughout the company to establish and maintain knowledge of the core products and all enhancements and fixes, especially those relative to assigned clients.
  • Work closely with members of the Software Delivery team, Premium Support Managers, Premium Support Engineers, Project & Program managers, and others to proactively plan and monitor existing project deployments and on-going technical support as required by the contracts.
  • Represent Landis+Gyr in a positive, professional manner when working with both external and internal customers.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related discipline required. 
  • Three plus years of increasingly responsible, professional and technical experience in supporting and managing complex system implementations. 
  • MDMS and/or utility operations experience is a plus.
  • Experience in process definition and delivery to meet overall business objectives.
  • Previous experience supervising a diverse technical workforce is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to lead team of diverse technical employees, provide significant coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated advanced level in troubleshooting root cause and proposing resolutions.
  • Strong, professional verbal and written skills including ability to lead client presentations.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Accustomed to working in an environment driven by high standards for service and system delivery.
  • Ability to plan and maintain schedules and perform resource management to balance workload with resource availability.
  • Ability to manage technical issues and drive issues to resolution.
  • Technical business process consulting experience related to AMI, MDMS, and/or utilities is a plus.
  • Experience with UNIX Sun Solaris required (vi, crontab, shell scripting, process monitoring, Perl). 
  • Experience with Oracle 11g or higher required (SQL*Plus, PL/SQL).
  • Ability to travel approximately 50%.
