Project Manager

The Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)/Project Manager will be responsible for collaborating with the Supply Chain Organization, collating and maintaining the needs, standards, requirements, specifications and the solution of the MES.

The experienced leader will collect requirements and execute the roll-out of SAP Digital Manufacturing with a strong collaboration with the factories. In addition, this role will provide comprehensive support to the Supply Chain Management & Operations teams regarding the interface to the ERP system, Variant Configurator Systems and Shop Floor Applications. 

Core Area of Responsibility:

  • Collect and maintain the needs, standards, requirements, specifications and the MES solution
    - Support maintenance of the system, maintain process-maps and collect the requirements
    - Perform external reference visits to gain best practice knowledge
    - Collect and evaluate the standards and requirements and review with the manufacturing sites
    - Maintain the requirements, architecture, specification and template documentation
    - Define the boundaries and interfaces to systems and processes such as ERP, Variant Configurators and the Shop-Floor Applications
    - Define contractual requirements and maintain the contracts
  • Deployment of the MES
    - Complete and maintain the pilot production site ensuring the local factories have the necessary skills to   maintain the system
    - Establish a Change Control Board
    - Conduct a lesson’s learnt of the pilot, create and maintain a deployment roadmap
    - Define projects as per the roadmap and execute with the corresponding site(s) and functions
  • Maintain the MES
    - Ensure contractual obligations of vendor are met for all onboarded product lines/factories
    - Establish a Continuous Improvement program
    - Ensures harmonised and standardised KPI definition for MES and usage in all relevant sites and functions
    - Maintaining an overview of Industry Technology Trends to ensure solutions are future proof
  • Establish, communicate, and implement MES operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution
  • Maintain strong operational relationships with manufacturing sites to ensure alignment and cohesive usage of manufacturing relevant data and solutions
  • Challenge the status quo to minimise risk and maximise performance
  • Lead collaboration between departments to identify improvements
  • Evaluate improvements regarding positive impacts on organisational and/or technical processes
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of geographically dispersed employees on an ongoing basis, and provide direct feedback, counsel, and coaching to drive practices and processes and overall company performance even if there is no direct leadership

Core technical skills:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, systems and technologies
  • Strong experience in architecting data and manufacturing technology stacks  
  • Understanding of architecture and design concepts with experience in working with cloud-based platforms (Azure, AWS, Google) in addition to On-Prem technologies
  • Experience in deploying MES Solutions, preferably SAP Digital Manufacturing
  • Experience utilising applications like SAP ERP, SQL, Power BI, Fabric
  • Set the technical scope and direction from projects and systems
  • Solid demonstration of critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills
  • Experience managing projects with high complexity in a global matrix
  • Demonstrable experience in multi-site data collection, tracking and analysis
  • Knowledge of process development/qualification, new product development and lean manufacturing
  • Track record of driving data management and operational excellence initiatives
  • Coding skills and experience in .NET/C#
  • Experience with OPC UA Equipment Integration
  • Usage of Microsoft Azure Dev-Ops with CI/CD processes is advantageous

Educational / professional qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and IT or Engineering, a related field or equivalent Industry experience
  • Certified project management training (i.e., Prince2), with experience managing cross functional projects would be beneficial
  • Track record of working in global organisations with more than 10 years of work experience as a leader in IT solutions, working in close collaboration with the business having demonstrated successful leadership
  • English business fluency necessary
  • Position requires up to 15% of travel to our manufacturing sites to meet with project teams, external partners and customers
