You are a senior software development engineer with technical as well as leadership competence to manage and coach our Converge (click here) research & development organisation. You will lead a team dedicated to one of our cutting-edge software solutions developed for our EMEA-based utility customers, with installations also in APAC. The primary goal is to coordinate continuous development and maintenance of the product based on input and requirements from our customers and business stakeholders.

Your future responsibilities:

• Team management – ensure that the team has the right circumstances to carry out their daily work in terms of competence, tools, instructions and supporting functions (leading, motivating, developing team members)
• Monitor the progress towards R&D goals and communicate with stakeholders
• Align and enforce the SW development process and tools in assigned area
• Resource planning/allocation with stakeholders
• Evaluates and aligns technology options in collaboration with global technology organization
• Supports Product Management during the definition of new product ideas and roadmaps
• Evaluation, selection and coordination of service providers or subcontractors when appropriate
• Controls budget
• Collaborate with customer projects and technical services teams in cases involving R&D work
• Actively participate in hands-on work related to the product, with the concrete areas to be defined based on competence and interest

This role is for a leader with technical competence to actively participate in hands-on work related to the product R&D, with the concrete areas to be defined based on competence and affinity.

The R&D community will value if you bring expertise in at least two of the following areas:

• Test automation ( e.g. Cypress)
• .NET platform
• Relational datbases (Oracle or Postgre SQL preferred)
• Message brokers (Rabbit MQ, Kafka, Active MQ) 
• Microservice architecture
• Development and maintenance of build and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitLab)
• Virtualization, Docker and Kubernetes
• Cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform preferred)

Your success and added value will depend on your previous extensive experience in working as a system specialist/expert or equivalent from within the IT/software field. A solid experience from measurement technology or smart metering business is also desired / of advantage.

Apart from development work (.NET, C#, Angular), you will be accountable for test automation process development, software architecture design, developing and maintaining build and CI/CD pipelines, maintaining Docker and Kubernetes cluster for internal test environments, developing product deployment processes and procedures, cloud environements with Google Cloud Platform. You will manage a small team of internal R&D resources as well as external resources. That is why previous people management experience and/or competence is required.
