Head of Accounting EMEA

We are looking for an experienced Head of Accounting EMEA who will lead, manage and innovate the month-end closing activities for EMEA. The newly created role is responsible for actual results, reporting, with strong connection to compliance, statutory and quality.

L+G Group is on a digital transformation journey, the Head of Accounting has strong empowerment to shape up the landscape of EMEA Finance, to drive process improvements in the region and help L+G to further grow our position as quality and innovation leader.

This role will enhance the quality of the closing process, internal control environment and efficiency of coordination. Key stakeholders in EMEA and Group lean significantly on this accounting and reporting role.

 

The role is reporting into the Head of Transactional Accounting EMEA (TA)  with a dotted line into the VP Group Accounting/Controlling. It is a new accounting and reporting role based in our CoE in Prague, and will work closely with key stakeholders in the region and as such, requires strong relationships building skills and drive towards key objectives.

 

You will work closely with the CFO to deliver, internal financial reports, cost accounting, US GAAP financial statements and statutory accounts preparation. The key to success are strong relationships building skills, drive to achieve, and great coordination skills.

You will manage a small team of direct reports. The role can rely on vast support of the innovative spirit in the CoE TA team in delivering on digital transformation and improvement projects. Relevant experience and skillset are expected. In addition, an adequate accounting certification is also required.

 

Main deliverables supported by defined KPIs include:

  • Leads the monthly close process for the EMEA region, monthly reporting of the actuals to the regional executive management as part of the month-end package coordinated by the regional FP&A team, incl. cash flow reviews
  • Monthly, quarterly, and yearly financials; actuals versus target performance as required to assess the actual performance
  • Quarterly balance sheet reviews, analyze variances and QtQ bridges
  • Integrated Management Systems, Improving closing landscape
  • Effective communication and coordination with key stakeholders

 

In this critical role, you would become:

  • Be the Subject matter expert on all accounting related matters for the EMEA region under close collaboration with the Group Accounting team
  • Be Responsible for leading the monthly close process for EMEA, including the related reporting to the different stakeholders including the EMEA CFO. This includes detailed month-end reporting and controlling activities for each subsidiary and the region.
  • Prepare and leads through quarterly balance sheet reviews with the Region CFO and Group CFO
  • Ensure compliance with the US GAAP accounting standards as outlined in the Group’s Accounting and Reporting Manual
  • Be Responsible for the proper adoption of new US GAAP standards for the EMEA legal entities as requested and coordinated by the Group Accounting team.
  • Ensure compliance for statutory accounts including audited accounts
  • Coordinate the statutory audits in the region and the PwC audit team at the CoE, Leads the Internal Control System efforts for the region, incl. internal audits
  • Evaluate and innovate existing business processes and value flows around end-to-end processes for transactional accounting activities, such as P2P, R2R, O2C, and other related processes in close collaboration with the SSC on an as needed basis

 

To be successful in this impactful role, you ideally bring in:

  • Minimum 10 years experience from senior roles in general finance and accounting or equivalent position in a multinational company
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of finance processes and financial systems
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to details, conflict resolution skills, big-picture thinking and vision, self-responsibility, and internal customer orientation
  • Experience with share service function is an advantage
  • Experience in working in an international/virtual/geographically dispersed team
  • Ability to organize resources to achieve objectives
  • High level of integrity, commitment and responsibility
  • Accustomed to working under pressure and with deadlines
  • Able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to motivate and drive a team
  • Hand-on practice using tools like Microsoft Cognos, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP for Finance
  • Expert in the field of accounting and controlling, desirably holder CPA qualification or equivalent formal education
  • Big 4 experience is an advantage
