About the Role
The Cloud Lead (Cloud OT Infrastructure Architect) oversees the LG Private Cloud and will help in building Landis+Gyr GCP Journey. This Involvement is for the design, build and execute the integrations & interoperability of software programs, vendor applications, and third-party solutions on the Private and Public Cloud.
As the subject matter expert, the Cloud Lead must also Learn and Lead Landis+Gyr LG Cloud ecosystem, its applications deployment, and associated challenges.
We are seeking an experienced Architect with proven expertise in GCP to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of secure OT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong hands-on background in DevOps, infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD automation—preferably with GitLab CI.
The ideal candidate will be business-focused, possess strong technical aptitude and excellent client-facing communication skills. Successful candidates will be able to bridge the gap between business and technology, manage client resources, drive technical solutions to timely completion, and identify, analyze, and extract key data from heterogeneous systems.
This role works closely with a wide variety of customers, Solution Architects, Security Groups, IT Office, Program Office, Program Managers within L+G and the customer’s team to generate solutions for L+G Cloud and GCP Cloud.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
- This role is a hands-on, technical position with prior experience on GCP Cloud Technologies at Expert level.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective Production infrastructure on GCP.
- Lead cloud-native application deployments, automation, and infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD.
- Collaborate with application teams to ensure performance, reliability, and security requirements are met.
- Drive migration of on-prem OT systems to GCP.
- Develop backup, recovery, HA, and DR strategies.
- Monitor infrastructure health and respond to incidents aligned with SLA expectations.
- Lead Proof of Concepts (POCs) for new tools and technologies.
- Document infrastructure architecture, SOPs, and system diagrams.
Must-Have Knowledge & Tools
These are critical and non-negotiable skills required for the role:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – IAM, VPCs, Cloud Functions, GKE,
- Kubernetes – Deployment, scaling, service exposure, RBAC, Helm
- Terraform – Infrastructure as code for provisioning and automation
- GitLab CI/CD – Pipeline design, artifact handling, deployment automation
- Cloud Security Concepts – Identity & Access Management, Firewalls, Encryption, VPN, KMS
Good-to-Have Knowledge
These are preferred and will give candidates a significant advantage:
- Ansible – Configuration management and provisioning
- Linux Administration – System hardening, package management, logs, scripting
- Windows Administration – AD integration, patching, system monitoring
- Networking Knowledge – Subnetting, routing, gateways, NAT, DNS
- Jenkins – Alternative CI/CD pipeline setup
- SRE Practices – SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident management
- Monitoring & Observability – Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus
- Landing Zone Design – Multi-project strategy, org policies, folder structure
Additional Activities
- Participate in migration, upgrade, and installation of LG Applications.
- Assist product teams during critical incidents and escalations.
- Plan for capacity expansion and cost optimization.
- Drive compliance with CMDB and security audits.
- Accountable to deliver high quality, innovative, cost-effective OT infrastructure in support of customer operations across all locations and regions within L+G.
- Architect, Develop and Implement OT infrastructure goals, plans and objectives that support the company's vision and strategic development throughout product lifecycle process.
- Architect, Design, plan, and implement deployment of GCP native applications in productive environment.
- Should be an expert in Ansible and Terraform
- Well versed with Cloud Security and Implementations (FW, Gateways, Checkpoint, etc.)
- Working together with application development team to ensure that deployed application meets security, SLA, and performance requirements.
- Identify automation targets and automate workloads including infrastructure needs, testing, failover solutions, failure mitigation.
- Developing CI/CD processes together with application and CI/CD teams to improve application updates cadence.
- Design, plan, and drive migration of existing OT systems from on-premises environment to GCP
- Preserve assets by ensuring CMDB compliance, implementing disaster recovery, backup procedures and information security and control structures.
- Responsible for ensuring efficient operations of Cloud OT infrastructure that meets all committed SLAs.
- Monitor OT infrastructure performance via defined SLA’s and capacity and respond to events or issues per commitment.
- Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for OT infrastructure with emphasis on root cause analysis in OT environment.
- Research solutions to various business and technical problems, evaluate alternatives and be able to present recommendations and justifications to management.
- Responsible for developing and implementing strategies for data and information architecture spanning the Service Operations, including information integrity, privacy & security, backup, recovery & replication.
- Responsible for developing and implementing strategies for data and information architecture spanning the Service Operations.
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Cloud Run, Cloud Function etc.
- Integrate security best practices like SecDevOps, Identity and Access management, encryption, and security analytics leveraging Google’s solutions including Cloud Identity, Cloud KMS (Key Management System), Apigee, and Container Registry to support dynamic and immutable cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Landing Zone will be an advantage.
