Key Purpose of Role:

The Test Engineer is responsible for developing and running both manual and automated test cases to ensure that solutions and meter products are suitable for our customers’ requirements. This role is within an experienced and dynamic team which is designing and developing innovative new automated test methods to support Landis & Gyr products

 

Areas of Responsibility:

 

Software Development and Product Testing

  • Perform end-to-end testing of electricity, gas and water meters, devices and software products before product launches to ensure the product meets requirements
  • Develop software using Python or similar programming techniques to create automated product testing processes.
  • Work within a team to ensure product testing is completed on time and with the required level of documented test reports.
  • Run or create new manual and automated tests to confirm the functionality added to products.
  • Familiarity with GIT, DevOps or automated test software.

 

Project Management

• Maintain test control for all projects in line with organizational standards. Document test results with verifiable proof.

• Maintain documentation for all projects to the required standards of the organization

 

Documentation

• Predict, identify, troubleshoot, document and report abnormal behavior and perform further investigation as required.

• Bug reporting in tracking systems on a per product basis.

• Use Microsoft DevOps for running both manual and automated test cases

 

Key Metrics Software Development

• Software tasks achieved and verified in a timely manner.

• Be organized so that multi-tasking of test cases can be performed to ensure a high level of output.

• Use of good written and oral communication when reporting bugs or areas of concern

• Be able to convert specification documents and requirements into test case plans.

• Exhibit ability to learn new skills and competencies.

• Attention to detail ensuring maximized bugs found and minimize bugs missed

• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently. Project Management/Documentation

• Test control is maintained in detail and as per organization standards.

• Documentation for all software projects and test results are complete and as per organizational standards.

 

Must Have’s:

Strong scripting C++/Python programming knowledge

Experience with GIT source control

Experience with Microsoft Test Professional (DevOps)

 

Professional Experience: 

Minimum 1 - 3 year experience as Software Quality Assurance Test Engineer or similar. Metering knowledge desirable.

Test automation knowledge desirable.

Experience with programming language such as Python or C++ desirable.

Experience with GIT source control desirable

 

Qualification:

Software Engineering Degree or Electrical Engineering Degree or Diploma from TAFE (or equivalent) Internation Software Testing Quality Board (ISTQB) certification desirable.

Good Written and oral communication skills. Deadline driven. Ability to work individually
