The Landis+Gyr Co-op program is designed to enhance the quality and scope of learning by providing students with the option of integrating academic study with related, work-based learning. Applicants must be enrolled in the undergraduate Bachelors degree program and available for an alternating rotating 3-semester schedule.  This first rotation begins January through April 2025; students will be working on-site at our Lafayette, Indiana location fulltime hours Monday through Friday.   This is a paid position but we don't offer housing assistance so only local candidates will be considered.

Project Overview:

Root cause investigation into test system anomalies. Data analysis on measurement and test systems to identify source of erroneous results. Work with the team and vendor as needed to develop and implement a corrective action.  Perform frequency analysis of the AFE (Revelo), analyze results, propose any circuit modifications to improve response and performance as it relates to accuracy.

Will learn test systems, measurement, system accuracies, test methodologies, error sources (both HW and SW related).  May experience working with vendors to resolve issues.  Analog design and analysis experience.

Participate on a team of other Co-ops and Interns to develop a new test system for energy meters. Learn about the energy grid and how metering is a critical component to the future of stability and sustainability.

Summary report defining the root cause of the error and a proposed corrective action.  Propose solution to fix the error, either internally or with the vendor.  Implement the fix if possible. Provide report regarding AFE frequency response along with any circuit modification recommendations to improve performance.

Student Objectives/Responsibilities:

•    Create automated tests and data collection utilities

•    Work within a multidisciplinary team to design and develop custom test equipment.

•    Testing of hardware for compliance with national standards.

•    Execute testing of energy storage solutions and assist in processing and analyzing data.

•    Willing to become familiar with equipment like oscilloscopes, network analyzers, DMMs, gauss meter, data acquisition devices, soldering irons, environmental chambers, and etc.

•    Participate in engineering development processes such as design reviews or DFMEAs.

•    Evaluate prototype assemblies for integration into new products.
