Job Summary


The Meter Maintenance Technician position is the primary point of contact for meter maintenance in the Utility's service area.  

 


Key Responsibilities


•    Investigate & troubleshoot energized electric & gas meter conditions  
•    Perform electric meter or gas module installations on energized equipment  
•    Residential gas module battery changes  
•    Antenna Installation  
•    Link Assessment Testing  
•    Perform Walkup Reads and as stand in for Mobile Meter Reader  
•    Residential Electric and Gas Emergency Assist  
•    Contribute to Monthly Safety Meeting and adhere to all QHSE Guidelines  
•    Maintain necessary safety equipment and stock of field work material

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


•    Must be able to work on gas meters typically located close to ground level.  
•    Must be able to work on electric meters at various heights.  
•    Must be able to work wearing safety equipment.  
•    Must be able to work on ladders and in inclement weather.
•    Ability to work with tools, mechanical and manual and maintain company vehicle.  
•    Ability to respond to emergency situations.  
•    Must be able to maintain accurate records.  
•    Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.  
•    Personal Computer knowledge 
•    Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite 
•    Keyboard/typing skills 
•    Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. 

 


Accountabilities


•    Ability to reason and make decisions based on directions.  
•    Must be flexible with work schedules, i.e., Saturday work.  
•    Report and correct all QHSE violations  
•    Maintain vehicle safety by performing daily maintenance review  
•    Participate in cross training with analysts, RF Technicians and Cross Dock Technicians   

 


Education and Experience


•    High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Trade school education in electric or gas.  
•    Basic understanding of gas and electric theory and metering.  

 

 

 Working Conditions/Physical Requirements/Safety/PPE/OHSAS: 


•    Working Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor.  Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc. Driving may be required for this job, must be able to operate a vehicle and follow traffic laws. May work in varying temperatures and experience outside factors in environment. 
 
•    Driving Status: Will be expected to do some traveling. Driving to and from destination. 
  
•    Physical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English. Reasonable accommodation provided for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Operating a vehicle at times. Must have a valid driver’s license maintain vehicle to company specifications during transport/travel. Traffic laws must be followed while traveling on company time. 
  
•    Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSAS-18001 Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $42,400 - $58,289 per year.  The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.  All candidates are encouraged to apply.
