Sr Systems Architect

As a member of the System Architecture team, drive the architecture, design and integration of utility centric devices and software across multiple product platforms while making sure all application software is built with Security, Safety, Performance and Scalability in mind.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, agile delivery/execution teams and other architects across multiple Product Platforms and domains of expertise, with a heavy emphasis at the beginning of new product and system development.
Develop Proof of Concept designs aligned with new projects and or System improvement, that can be provided to development teams for full productization.
Review current application software and processes to help mitigate technical debt, identify technical opportunities and streamline processes to be more efficient and effective.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design systems to meet security, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability requirements.
  • Participate in design discussions about new features and approaches to implementing new services and collaborate cross-functionally to analyze, engineer and implement end-to-end solutions.
  • Create architecture, designs, and documentation that will lead to consistent reliability, scalability, security and performance of the entirety of the system.
  • Coach and guide cross-functional teams through technical tasks and work with product managers to understand feature requirements.
  • Plan short-term efforts and assist with the planning of medium- and long-term efforts and multi-team projects.
  • Maintain technical and working knowledge of systems to act as subject matter expert for the overall system.
  • Work with Product Management, Sales, and when required directly with Customers, to obtain the "Big Why" for customer initiatives, enabling the design of a reusable system architecture.
  • Manage Energy Better: Consciously drive for continuous improvement in reusing, recycling or reducing waste.
  • Maintain awareness of identified and potential health and safety, quality and environmental aspects within the workplace and their impact, including the reporting of any accidents/incidents/near misses or hazards.
  • Act responsibly to meet the objectives/requirements at the appropriate level as described in the Health, Safety and Integrated Management Systems.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
  • Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.


Desired Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience across multiple technology areas of Metering, Communication Networks, Hardware development, Embedded software, Enterprise Software.
  • Experience working with Global, cross functional, multi-cultural teams
  • Interaction with Customers as a subject matter expert
  • Team and/or Project Leadership


Required/Desired Certifications

  • Certification in Industry recognized Cyber Security desirable
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Technical Documentation Skills
  • System Engineering or Product Owner experience desirable
