Sr Hardware Test Technician

The Sr Hardware Test Technician performs technical tasks in support of the Quality department including troubleshooting, design, testing, prototype building, and other activities related to test and/or reliability. Use established policies and procedures to complete work assignments. Work assignments vary widely. Required to use specialized computer applications and test equipment to perform duties.

Education and Experience
Required Minimum Level of Education: Associate Degree (or equivalent work experience)
Required Minimum Years of Experience:5+ to 7years


Desired Education/Experience
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or equivalent experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Required to have prior experience in supporting ANSI/UL/FCC testing and RF experience.
  • Knowledge of AC power/high current is essential.
  • Use of DVM, oscilloscope, and associated test equipment is essential.
  • Understanding of analog, digital and microprocessor circuits, power devices and related circuits, motors and general AC wiring.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, engineering drawings, theory of operation and other technical documents describing product function.
  • Set up test apparatus and conduct tests of production electronic assemblies and units following established methods, procedures, standards, and sequences.     
  • Adjust and calibrate equipment as needed.
  • Modify electronic equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as defined by predetermined diagrams and sketches.
  • Correct malfunctions by adjusting or replacing parts or components as directed.
  • Solder both SMT and through-hole electronic devices.
  • Hand and small power tools and various measuring and testing devices are used in performing job duties.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with control procedures, ANSI, IEEE, IEC, and EU standards.
  • Maintains records on work performed, analyzes data collected, and reports results.
  • Troubleshoot failures utilizing schematics and related design documentation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Keyboard / typing skills.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Windows and Office suite.
