R&D Technician II

Assists all levels of engineers with design, testing, prototype building, and other activities related to product design, maintenance, and reliability. 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Construct and test prototype or breadboard circuits from schematics or high-level concept drawings.
  • Build prototypes, printed circuit boards, electrical wiring and mechanical assemblies.
  • Assist with circuit designs, component specifications and vendor selection.
  • Design and implement test procedures for design validation testing of products.
  • Collect, compile and analyze test data.
  • Follow written test procedures, adherence to test standards and QA requirements.
  • Become proficient with the use of new test equipment and practices as needed.
  • Contribute to product and system-level test efforts.
  • Support product transition into high volume production.
  • Updating job skills through seminars, classes, journals.
  • Work in team environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Education and Experience (include required Certifications, if any)
2-year EET degree or equivalent
2 to 5 years’ experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in an electronic product design and development activities including building and testing electronic assemblies such as printed circuit boards, cable assemblies, and electronic packaging. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel. 
  • Experience with debugging and problem solving design of tests. 
  • Experience with basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Skilled in electronic construction, soldering, PCBs, cable harnesses, and surface mount components.
  • Proficient use of laboratory test equipment including DVMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies and signal generators.
