Project Delivery Manager

The Project Delivery Manager works in the Project Management Office (PMO) to govern and improve customer-facing project management processes and systems.


Specifically, the Project Delivery Manager owns project governance for assigned districts, manages change control, serves as a contact/resource for Region Directors, develops services proposal content, develops reporting to measure performance against KPIs, creates and modifies project process documentation and leads continual improvement projects intended to improve project delivery. The Project Delivery Manager also provides direct support to large projects in core project management processes including requirements management, schedule management, risk management and resource management and is responsible for auditing large projects to ensure compliance to project management plans.


Key Responsibilities

  • Large Project Support: Provide mentoring and serve as a Subject Matter Expert to Project Managers during the development of project management plans, schedules, risk registers, etc. Provide direct support to Region Directors as needed. 
  • Project Governance: Oversee the successful completion of all required project handoffs and gate reviews led by Technical Business Analysts. Conduct project reviews and resource reviews for conformance to reporting and resource management requirements. For large projects, conduct monthly project audits to ensure compliance with project management plans. Provide feedback to project resources and leadership on conformance.
  • Process Management: Seek approvals for all project change requests per company approval requirements, and support Project Managers with completing customer-facing and vendor-facing change order documents.
  • Analyze and report project portfolio performance against key metrics; Review and update key process documents including forms, work instructions, procedures and playbooks, which guide how our projects are executed; Lead continual improvement projects that simplify how projects are executed, or how the PMO work with other organizations in the company. 
  • Proposal Support: Write proposal content including schedules, statements of work, services descriptions; Participate in internal and customer meetings to develop proposal requirements; Develop resource / staffing models for complex projects. 
  • System and Report Management: Manage configuration and report development from portfolio management software; Manage configuration / development of PMO SharePoint site; Develop executive-facing presentations for key stakeholders on portfolio performance.

Education and Experience

Required Minimum Level of Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Minimum Years of Experience: 5+ to 7


Desired Education/Experience
Experience working across cross-functional teams setting clear expectations ensuring that team members are aligned and demands are balanced and reasonable.
Knowledgeable in Project Management Institute (PMI) principles, including the development of initiation/planning documents for large/complex projects. 
Experience in the utility or similarly regulated industries is a plus.
Experience in software/system deployment projects.
Experience of working in fast-paced, high-demand, delivery-oriented environments.
Experience making decisions without perfect information.

License / Certification Requirements 

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
