Product Configuration Specialist Lead

Job Summary

 

The Product Configuration Specialist Lead is pivotal in bridging engineering data with manufacturing processes through expertise in SAP Variant Configurator (SAP VC). In this role, you will collaborate closely with teams from engineering, product management, manufacturing, customer delivery, and IT to ensure that product configurations are optimized to meet both customer specifications and production requirements.\

Key Responsibilities


•    Lead SAP Variant Configurator development and maintenance 


•    Gather, validate, and document product configuration specifications from product experts and business units. 


•    Support new SAP business end-to-end process development and implementation.


•    Assist in defining and implementing hardware and software configuration management processes and procedures


•    Perform initial testing of problem fixes, change requests, enhancements, and new functionality.


•    Prepare workflow charts/diagrams to specify in detail processes and operations 


•    Demonstrate proof of concept and assist with training activities.


•    Troubleshoot, test, and maintain SAP VC models, ensuring they align with evolving production and customer demands.


•    Build product BOMs and Engineering Change Orders in accordance with departmental standards and procedures using the PLM system.


•    Manage contract manufacturers and supplier access to PLM BOMs and engineering changes.   


•    Provide user-level support and training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


•    Experienced with SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.


•    Experienced with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software.


•    Experience working with complex configurable products.


•    Understanding of Engineering-BOM vs Manufacturing-BOM and how that works from PLM system to SAP ERP system and SAP Variant Configuration.


•    Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite 


•    Familiarity with Azure DevOps is preferred. 


•    A strong working knowledge of or experience with Engineering and Manufacturing as it relates to Bill of Material structures and routings.


•    Exceptional communication skills for coordinating across technical and non-technical teams.


•    Must be able to communicate with business users to evaluate needs and translate back into the system to evaluate product offering possibilities.


•    Ability to work efficiently with team members from different geographical locations and expertise backgrounds.


•    Ability to work effectively and independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision.

 


Education and Experience


•    An associate's degree or equivalent experience is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.


•    6-10 years of relevant experience.

 

•    At least 5 years of ERP or package software experience.


•    At least 3 years of SAP-related experience in Variant Configuration (other ERP experience may be considered).

Pay is in the range of $81,400 - $126,800 per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
