Solutions Director

Solution Directors are key contributors during the sales process through their mission of actively developing solutions by leveraging the existing portfolio of products and services and identifying gaps in existing technology to promote portfolio additions which best meet the needs of customers today and in the future.  Solution Directors work in close collaboration with each opportunity's assigned account team and are expected to act as the key technical and strategic advisor during the solution identification, proposal, presentation and negotiation phase of each opportunity.  Through a continuously evolving skill set and understanding of the evolving utility industry, Solution Directors are required to articulate technology and business win themes that represent the value add of the portfolio solution to meet the clients operational and financial use cases.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for working with stakeholders within the company to develop account-winning strategies and to provide tactical product sales support resulting in successful close of business deals.  
Responsible for working with stakeholders within the company to research and understand the needs of the customer when responding to RFPs/RFIs/BQs and to define the overall technical and business solutions to meet customer use cases.
Functions as the technical expert of related portfolio offerings and technical advisor internal to Landis+Gyr at targeted client sales meetings and to prospective clients.
Organizes and conducts product demonstrations to satisfy pre-sales and proposal short-list meetings.
Conduct self-directed research and obtain a strong working knowledge of competitor’s product and services portfolios, and of overall emerging trends in the Utility sector (Electric+Gas+Water+Distributed Energy Resources), City IoT infrastructure applications, and other consumer trends associated with managing energy and assets better.  
Represents Landis+Gyr Exchange annual user conference, and professional seminars.

Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

•    Effective oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
•    Strong negotiation skills both internally and externally
•    Organized and analytical; able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches 
•    Ability to work independently and as a direct or virtual team member to successfully achieve sales objectives 
•    Understanding of business and basic legal terminology  
•    Understanding of OSI networking layers and how they relate in a production environment
•    Experience with traditional basic IT protocols:  TCP/IP, UDP; IP subnets and routing; firewalls 
•    Familiarity with IP and RF network design and network management best practices
•    Experience with IP network management software applications
•    Excellent computer skills including the ability to utilize Excel, Word, Outlook, and CRM systems
•    Passionate results oriented professional focused on achieving sales targets through customer satisfaction
•    Valid driver’s license and passport
•    Ability to travel 50% including international travel  

 

Education and Experience:

 

Required Minimum Level of Education: Bachelors Degree
Required Minimum Years of Experience: 2+ to 5

Desired Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied engineering, and/or technology management plus 3 to 5 years experience in a position related to design, technical marketing, and/or sales of technology.   
Electric/Water/Gas Utility operations and/or IoT (Internet of Things) industry experience highly desirable.
