Lead Data Scientist

For our Global Technology Office and in the frame of a multi-year journey to cloud, we are looking for a highly motivated Lead Data Scientist.


We are looking for a seasoned Data Scientist at lead level with extensive experience in cloud and engineering platform solutions, preferably Google Cloud Platform. We are looking for an experienced data scientist who can apply the latest in advanced analytics and AI/ML technology to help our utility clients realize the potential of big data and artificial intelligence.


In partnership with multiple stakeholders, you will focus on developing and delivering leading edge analytics solutions using Google Cloud and, as a key member of our engineering practice, you will mentor a small team of data scientists and analysts as we grow and drive the data science capability of the team.


Core area of responsibility

  • Define and support the research and analytical process to deliver business insights
  • Responsible for advanced statistical and machine learning modeling
  • Develop data driven analytical tools
  • Machine learning - build models that can be used for asset health and grid operations
  • Lead a small team of data scientists and analysts


Core technical skills

  • Extensive experience in GCP, using Google Analytics Premium and Google BigQuery
  • Excellent programming experience with either SAS/SQL/R or Python
  • Extensive experience with advanced statistical and machine learning techniques
  • Ability to initiate and drive analytic projects from inception to delivery, and productionize and automate the process with excellent programming skills
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
  • Test automation experience

Educational / professional qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant technology field (i.e. in Computer Science, Business Engineering) or equivalent practical experience in technical support, professional services, and software development
  • Track record of working in global organizations with technology experience in a combination of engineering, architecture, cloud computing and digital transformation, etc.
  • Specialization in complex multi-million dollar programs and with advanced technologies


Position may require some travel to vendor sites as well as between Landis+Gyr locations to meet with project teams, external partners and/or business customers.
