About the Role
Are you passionate about leading hardware compliance, testing, and certification within in a highly regulated, innovation-driven industry?
We are seeking an experienced Hardware Compliance Engineer, to join our Mascot team on a full-time basis, to lead and manage product compliance across our hardware portfolio. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our products meet stringent regulatory, safety and industry standards across APAC through structured testing, certification, and collaboration with accredited authorities.
As a technical leader, you will drive compliance strategies in validating product compliance prior to market release and maintaining ongoing adherence, contributing directly to successful product launches and product quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Product Compliance & Testing:
- Develop and execute compliance testing strategies for new and existing products.
- Coordinate testing with accredited laboratories and certification bodies.
- Review and validate test plans, reports, and certification outcomes.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory, safety, and industry standards.
Regulatory & Standards Management:
- Interpret and apply regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Provide compliance guidance throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise key stakeholders.
External Liaison & Vendor Management:
- Act as the primary contact with regulatory bodies, certification authorities, and test labs.
- Manage testing schedules, submissions, and documentation.
- Select and oversee external testing partners and maintain key relationships (e.g., NMI).
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain technical files, declarations of conformity, and certification records.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of compliance documentation.
- Deliver reporting to stakeholders and leadership.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Identify compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote a “Quality First” culture.
Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work closely with engineering, R&D, quality, PMO, and supply chain teams.
- Lead and mentor the Hardware Quality Assurance (HQA) team.
- Provide technical oversight and final compliance sign-off.
About You
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in R&D and regulatory compliance within the metering or related industry.
- Strong understanding of ANZ regulatory requirements for industrial metering hardware and embedded radio devices.
- Strong knowledge of international and ANZ standards for electricity metering.
- Experience in the utilities or metering sector (desirable).
- Knowledge of hardware reliability testing and metrics (advantageous).
- Experience in electronic/electrical hardware product development.
- Understanding of hardware compliance and certification processes, component lifecycle management and reliability testing methodologies (ideal).
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to make critical technical decisions.
