Mechanical Engineer I

Design, prototype, and validate various components and assemblies for outdoor, radio-based devices from specifications, customer input, and verbal direction.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical system and component design utilizing solid modeling CAD tools.
  • Perform materail selection and create detailed drawings of parts and assemblies utilizing CAD tools.
  • Responsible for assuring mechanical development is created per schedule and per cost objectives.
  • Generate BOMs and ECOs.
  • Involved with a project/product at it's infancy and support development products into production ready capacity.
  • Interact with internal and outside suppliers to procure, deliver and implement parts and designs.
  • Trouble shoot and find corrective actions for testing and "in the field" products that may experience failures.
  • Ensure design compliance with industry and company standards.Interpret and analyze design data in preparing feasibility studies to determine manufacturability and performance of new concepts.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
  • Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.



Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters preferred
  • Experience designing electronic or electro-mechanical products for industrial and outdoor environments is desired
  • 1-3 years of experience is preferred 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of product structure of mechanical and electrical assemblies in a volume-manufacturing environment
  • Injection mold plastic design experience is desired
  • Knowledge of using Creo and Windchill CAD systems
  • Knowledgeable in the use of a document control PLM system (e.g.; SAP PLM)
  • Team player   
  • AutoCAD a plus
  • Knowledgeable in the use of a document control system (ex; Matrix One, Agile, or Arena)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
