Permit Specialist

The Permit Specialist ensures work is permitted by the applicable jurisdiction and meets all jurisdictional standards and regulations.The work entails creating and preparing permit packages for submittal to customer ERP system, managing permit development through the lifespan of the project, tracking permit status and keeping all internal stakeholders apprised of timelines, requirements and jurisdictional communications.The Permit Specialist may interface directly with jurisdictional partners or customer Municipal Liason's to help ensure the successful outcome of deployment projects within their Rights Of Way and works to build and maintain jurisdictional relationships through timely and professional communications and conflict resolution techniques.

 

Job Duration: 24 Months (2 years)


Key Responsibilities:


•    Manage construction project intake
•    Provide input into Traffic Control Plans
•    Manage permitting tasks through customer ERP or other tools
•    Provide permitting status updates to project teams
•    Proactive monitoring or permit status and publish dates
•    Act as primary permitting point of contact for project team
•    Build and maintain relationships with jurisdictional counterparts
•    Create custom reports for permitting, deployment
•    Coordinate ancillary tasks (parking barricade, Traffic Control Plans, etc)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


•    2yrs SAP or other ERP experience
•    Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office suite of applications
•    Ability to read and interpret blueprints, as-built documents
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills
•    Ability to handle conflicts in a professional manner
•    Excellent attention to detail Have a good working knowledge of Network troubleshooting 
•    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common instruction manuals and technical journals.   
•    Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.   
•    Ability to create understandable written communications.  


Education and Experience:


•    Required Minimum Years of Experience: 1+ to 2
•    Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Desired Qualifications: Experience with SAP, Utility Experience (Electric, Gas, Water), Joint Use Experience, Permitting experience with municipalities


Working Conditions/Physical Requirements/Safety/PPE/OHSAS: 


•    Working Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc. 
•    Driving Status: Will drive on business for the Company 6 times or less per year.
•    Physical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English. Reasonable accommodations provided for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 
•    Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSAS-18001 Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $66,015 - $81,782 per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
