Documentation Control Specialist

The Engineering Document Controller is responsible of managing the engineering document control process, and for coordinating the preparation, distribution, and archiving of production and manufacturing documentation such as engineering drawings, product specifications, BOMs, component sourcing and other technical documents as required by the product plan.   
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain engineering controlled for all internal, incoming and outgoing technical documents and processes, such as BOM's, Engineering Change Orders (ECO's), Deviations (DEV's), Engineering Change Requests (ECR's) and various design documents using PLM/PDM systems.
  • Process part, document and assembly releases (electrical, mechanical and firmware) and enforce the engineering workflow and documentation standards.
  • Manage component and assembly manufacturing sources.
  • Manages the routing, review, distribution and archival of new and revised controlled documents.
  • Review and verify documentation for completeness, format and compliance with requirements.
  • Work with contract manufacturers and external suppliers to supply and manage the manufacturing documentation.
  • Provide training to the appropriate departments on the documentation processes and specifications.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
  • Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.

 

Education & Experience
Required Minimum Level of Education: Associates Degree
Required Minimum Years of Experience: 5+ to 7

 

Desired Education/Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in document or records management. 
Experience working in a manufacturing and engineering environments is preferred.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience in using PLM system.
  • Experience in SAP PLM is preferred.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new applications.
  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Familiar with creating PDF files. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and word processors. 
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets, document control processes, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and system users.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
