Customer Service Engineer HW

For our Customer Service Department at the company headquarters in Cham, we are looking for a highly motivated Customer Service Engineer for Hardware. In this position you provide customer support with focus on field devices (testing, configuring, installing and trouble shooting). In addition you are managing technical "clean-up" to optimize communication remotely and in the field. As a Customer Service Engineer for Hardware you will have a key role in different phases:

 

Sales / Maintenance Phase:

  • Support Engineer in technical design of field installations
  • Support the execution of tests according to test plan and help to resolve any issues found
  • Set up lab tests for specific customer or market requirements
  • Support sales and Project team to clarify technical questions and verify suggested implementations
  • Build up test devices for sales or training purposes
  • Support qualification of new Firmware releases, fixes and suggestions for issue solving
  • Support or execution of remote Smart Meter Firmware update
  • Responsible to handle Hardware service contract, Follow-up and problem solving
  • Software support for local settings or local readings
  • Contribute to define tests on device and system solution level for new product releases/versions and trials 
  • Take part in service actions like spare parts delivery or problem solving from older devices

 

Deployment / Rollout phase:

  • Support customers in best practice for installation and clean-up in the field
  • Provide field installation training to installation companies and customers
  • Responsible for field installation quality control and possible problem solving 
  • Responsible for clean-up operations and technical support during project
  • Coordinate/perform trouble shooting and clean-up during roll-out process
  • Responsible for claim handling from field installations
  • Trouble shooting, problem analysis and resolution (onsite and in lab – reproduction of issues etc)
  • Support Sales and 1st Level in technical issues

 

To be successful in this position, the following skills and experience are required:

  • A technical degree/education, e.g. Electrician
  • Proven track record as a Hardware Engineer or in the area of Technical Customer Support 
  • Preferably experience in telecommunication technologies and/or Metering devices
  • A passion for sustainability and eagerness to contribute to our mission to help the world manage energy better
  • The ability to determine the source of a problem and find an effective solution
  • A hands-on and customer-focused approach
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both in English and German, French is a plus)
