Sr Site Reliability Engineer Analytics

Position Summary:

The Sr Site Reliability Engineer will assist with the strategy, architecture, design, and implementation of Google Cloud initiatives. The ideal candidate will understand both Google’s cloud offerings and offerings from other key cloud solution providers like Big Query and Looker.  The Sr Site Reliability Engineer will work with the CI/CD, Software Development and System integration teams to ensure the development and deployment of best-in-class cloud solutions. The Engineer will understand the software development life cycle and modern agile approaches. The position supports both online solutions for real time decision making and offline solutions for analytics and reporting.

This role elicits requirements, evaluates options, provides direction on implementation and operational support.

The Sr Site Reliability Engineer must understand client requirements and how Landis+Gyr cloud solutions fit into those requirements. The ideal candidate will have previous Analytics design and development experience.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build cloud-based analytics solutions & on-premise solutions.
  • Understanding of standard deployment topologies for web applications, backend services, databases (like SQL, NoSQL dbs. etc.) into Cloud 
  • Preferred Google Cloud or other public cloud, Terraform code writing and Gitlab implementation experience.
  • Exposure to GCP Analytics tools like Big Query and Looker would be added advantages.
  • Experience operating applications using Big Data technology like Hadoop, Spark, or Cassandra
  • Track record for improving service reliability and efficiency.
  • Writes production ready code in Terraform, Python or equivalent programming language.
  • Understanding of deployment strategies (Blue-Green, Canary, A/B Testing) and cross-region/multi-AZ setup for Disaster Recovery
  • Work directly with customers to create data mappings and resolve other related semantic issues involved in architecting the integration solution.
  • Contribute to the Smart Grid Services culture by actively participating in the evolution of best practices, tools, and processes.
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of newly integrated software programs and applications.
  • Support integration testing phase of software and applications under development in order to identify and remedy potential problem areas.
  • Develop standards, best practices, patterns, and processes to support and facilitate integration projects and initiatives.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.

Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.

 

 

Education & Experience:

  • Required Minimum Level of Education: Associates Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 2+ years’ experience in building out analytic solutions in the public cloud.
  • 1+ years’ experience with terraform automation and CI/CD
  • Multi-dimensional (diverse) product development experience is a plus.
  • Google Cloud Platform experience is a plus.
  • AWS an Azure experience is a plus.
  • Innovating by recognizing opportunities for automation and tool improvements

The Sr Site Reliability Engineer should have experience with the following:

  • Relational Database solutions including at least one of
    • PostgreSQL/Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL
    • MS SQL Server/CloudSQL for SQL Server
    • NoSQL databases
    • Spanner
  • Two or more programming languages
    • C# .NET Core
    • Java
    • Python
  • Multi-tenant deployment
  • CI/CD tools including at least one of
    • Gitlab Runners
    • Terraform
    • Ansible
    • Jenkins
  • Agile methodology
  • ML and Cloud Analytics is a plus.

Knowledge of the utility industry (Electric, Gas, Water) is a plus

  • Work with the customer to define and scope their integration and functionality requirements.
  • Write system integration planning and implementation documentation.
  • Ensure integration plan, schedule, and interfaces meet the customer deployment requirements.
  • Maintain exceptional customer engagement skills with the ability to follow up on requested features and requirements which results in overall scope of expectation and meet the customer’s satisfaction expectations.
  • Represent Landis+Gyr in a positive, professional, and enthusiastic manner when working with both external and internal customers.

Working Conditions:

Driving Status: Will drive on business for the Company 6 times or less per year.

Pay is in the range of $81,400 to $126,800.  The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.  All candidates are encouraged to apply.
