Software Architect

General Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Software Architect (Middleware Expert) with 75% responsibilities as a Middleware Expert and 25% as an Architect.
Software/Middleware Architect will be responsible for the governance/standards of the middleware platform. Responsible for new environment setup, tuning, troubleshooting and maintenance activities related to the Middleware platform as the Middleware Development expert. He/She will also work with Developers and Technical Leads to identify changes to existing standards or extend the standards when needed. This role will also be involved in the design and documentation of complex extended environment with Load Balancers, Webservers, Application servers, Databases and security devices. He/She will provide technical leadership /guidance / mentorship including instructing, directing, and checking the work of the development teams. This position will be part of the Product Development team working in NAM and GDC to design and implement business solutions and systems that require middleware functionality. Candidate will have global large scale Middleware Administration/Solution implementation experience.
This person will be part of the Solutions Software Development team. These Enterprise Software are developed on Java/Opensource technology stack.
•    This person will have excellent knowledge on Application Server architecture and internal working.
•    The person for this role will be mainly focused on:
•    Middleware Administration, develop software deployment strategies, automation of Middleware activities
•    Troubleshooting, tuning, optimization of the Middleware.
•    Cluster implementation for high-availability and scalability
•    Packaging the application software for customer distribution
•    Creating System Administration and Installation/Deployment Guides for the Customers
•    Work closely with the Product Development teams to improve current architecture/design, this implies being pro-active in applying new technologies, patterns, tools and methodologies.
•    This person will work with the CI/CD team to build/enhance Continuous Delivery pipelines for the application software.
•    This is an onsite/offshore working model so lot of interaction with the team in India would be required.
•    This person will have a good understanding of Agile/SCRUM Software Development process.
•    The most important skills would be flexibility, go-getter approach.
•    Perform other duties as assigned or required
 
Key Responsibilities:
•    Environment set up and maintenance for Middleware platforms, WebLogic and WebSphere 
•    Packaging application software and documentation for customer distribution 
•    Customer Support for Middleware
•    Product Development support, CI/CD (Help in design/architecture of the application layer) 
•    Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.
•    Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
•    Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
•    Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.
 
Education & Experience:
Required Minimum Level of Education: Bachelors Degree
Required Minimum Years of Experience: 7+ to 10
Desired Education/Experience:
•B.S. in Computer Science or a related degree (M.S. preferred, PhD desired)
•8+ years of experience working as a Middleware Expert/Software Architect
•Excellent knowledge of WebLogic & WebSphere architecture and internal working. Certification on WebLogic and/or WebSphere will be an advantage.
•Proficient with WebLogic/WebSphere installations and upgrades, clustering, along with using scripting to automate these activities.
•Security best practices and standards, such as SAML.
•Experience in Software integration patterns and concepts, service-oriented architecture (SOA), ESB.
•Experience in using Application Performance Monitoring tools, such as Dynatrace.
•Experience working on the different flavors of Unix/Linux systems, scripting such as, Shell, Python.
•Have a good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, using tools, such as, SVN/GIT/Gerrit, Jenkins. Experience in Container technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes will be an advantage.
•Experience working with Oracle database.
•Experience working in Cloud infrastructure.
•Experience working in an iterative development environment, such as, Agile/SCRUM
•Experience using tools, such as, Jira, Confluence, Wiki, TFS.
•Development experience on Java/Open Source stack will be an advantage
•Excellent communication skills as a lot of interaction with be required across departments, sometimes with the customers.
Desired Certifications:
•Oracle Certified WebLogic Sever Administrator/ IBM Certified System Administrator – WebSphere Application Server
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
