SQA Engineer II

The position requires testing in a fast-paced, time sensitive project and the applicant must have the ability to quickly switch from one task to another and follow the work plan to meet project milestones. The job requires excellent working knowledge of the testing methodologies and the quality processes and will be responsible for developing and executing test plans using technical requirements and design specifications as input, analyzing test results, performing data validation, tracking defects and providing regular status.  An excellent candidate will be highly skilled in using different techniques while performing testing tasks related to database, backend processes and front-end applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish methodologies, standards and procedures for requirements analysis, test plan preparation, test procedure development and execution, documentation of results and reporting.
  • Coordinate with engineering and development to establish a well-constructed testing environment to ensure requirement implementation\verification correctness and to review test case coverage.
  • Work in an agile development environment, collaborating with the team to deliver quality software iteratively.
  • Work with hardware like electric meters, network devices etc.
  • Guide, train and mentor junior team members and work with offshore teams.
  • Work Independently and perform full system troubleshooting including windows\Linux servers, databases, Network etc.
  • Automate test cases using automation tools like Robot Framework and Selenium.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

 

Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field and 3-5 years of test development experience, or master’s degree in related field and 0-2 years of engineering experience
  • Experience with firmware and/or system automated testing and tools are mandatory.
  • Experience in creating and managing test automation frameworks.
  • Experience with Oracle and SQL Databases.
  • Experience with Visual Studios, TFS, and Test Manager.
  • Experience with Windows 7.
  • Experience with .Net, CodedUI and QTP, a plus.
  • Experience with web services testing, a plus.

Desired Certifications:

  • Certified in any of the following software testing-related certifications is a plus: Certified Software/firmware Quality Analyst (CSQA), Certified Software/firmware Tester (CSTE), Certified Software/firmware Project Manager (CSPM), Certified Software/firmware Test Professional (CSTP), Certified Test Manager (CTM), or similar.

  • Able to respond to ad hoc testing issues that arise, while multi-tasking
  • Knowledge of each phase of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance processes
  • Knowledge of Agile Scrum development model
  • Programming skills (e.g., C/C++/C#, Java, Python)
  • Written and oral communications skills
  • Able to successfully troubleshoot issues
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of configuration issues related to software development 
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Able to communicate with users in non-technical terms both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and to work on several active projects simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills
