SQA Engineer II

Design, execution, and management of test plans, scripts, and cases, along with set up, configuration and implementation of test environments, and the identification and management of issues for each development project.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, plans and performs engineering duties for part of a major project or for projects of moderate complexity.
  • Act as technical authority in areas of specialty on assigned projects and serve as an escalated support resource for products released.
  •  Assist all levels of software/firmware engineers, and activities related to testing.
  • Work on projects that are varied and of high scope and complexity.
  • Use specialized computer applications to perform duties.
  • Prioritize tasks daily to meet scheduled testing objectives.     
  • Create, revise, and execute test plans and test cases; Identify testing risks and propose solutions to mitigate.
  • Communicate effectively, and collaborate, with internal and external resources.
  • Provide status reports and participate in departmental and project team meetings and email communications.
  • Provide escalations in a timely manner and through the appropriate channels.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with cross functional team members
  • Provide input into continually improving quality processes and procedures.
  • Work directly with software and firmware developers to ensure requirement implementation/verification correctness and to review test case coverage.
  • Detect, document, and track system defects throughout the SQA process
  • Write firmware/software defect reports; Identify and record sequence for software malfunctions.
  • Investigate software defects and problem reports validity; provide additional information aid defect correction.
  • Follow project and corporate software plans, standards, and procedures to perform software verification.
  • Develop manual and automated functional and regression tests for web services and web-based user interfaces.
  • Represent Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both external and internal customers.  
  • Support and adhere to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field and 3 - 5 years of test development experience, or master’s degree in related field and 3 - 5 years of engineering experience required
  • Experience working with the full software development life cycle
  • Experience with Agile Methodology
  • Experience testing web services for functionality, load, and scalability
  • Experience testing HTML5 based user interfaces
  • Experience working with Oracle SQL Developer and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
  • Experience with DDL and DML statements in Oracle and SQL Server
  • Experience with Gerrit and Jenkins
  • Experience working with advanced security
  • Experience working with SSL certs
  • Windows Server experience (Event Viewer, MSMQ, IIS, etc,)

Desired Experience

  • Experience with Linux/Unix set up and configuration  
  • Experience with ANSI, ABNT and DLMS protocols  
  • Experience working with Kafka  
  • Experience with GCP  
  • Experience with Robot Framework with Python

  • Able to respond to ad hoc testing issues that arise, while multi-tasking
  • Written and oral communications skills
  • Able to successfully troubleshoot issues
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to proficiently utilize standard computer applications as they relate to software/firmware development and testing
      • Such programs may include, but not limited to: Linux Shells, Wireshark, Power Shell, Putty, and various editors’ languages
  • Understanding of configuration issues related to software development 
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Able to convey information concisely and clearly to all levels of personnel.
  • Able to communicate with users in non-technical terms both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and to work on several active projects simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills
