The Manager, Software Implementation leads and manages the technical aspects of the customer-facing deployment projects / programs for North & South America, Canada, and Latin America, and provides deployment leadership and mentoring globally, at times.  The position is responsible for the technical implementation and delivery of Landis+Gyr’s Grid stream MDMS & AGA solutions to clients using a structured implementation project lifecycle to ensure quality in solution delivery.  This position is responsible for ensuring the Software Implementation Managers of the Software Delivery team efficiently implement and deliver the L+G Gridstream solution to customers while ensuring the technical aspects of each project progresses according to the project timelines and meets all contractual requirements. The role will ensure the team follows/leverages structured and repeatable deployment processes and tools to ensure flawless execution and customer satisfaction.  This role provides direct leadership to staff located in North America and Brazil.

 

Primary Statement of Duties


•    Plan, execute and maintain processes to drive Software Delivery improvement initiatives.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure successful delivery of implementations.
•    Assist Sales team on large deal pursuit to ensure customer implementations are setup for success.
•    Responsible for developing strong technical teams to plan and support delivery of new technologies and changes introduced by the Product teams.
•    Provide support for effective budget planning and monitoring. 
•    Accountable for on time and quality delivery of software development projects.
•    Lead technical experts that complete the integration, configuration, and installation of L+G smart grid technologies.
•    Lead, mentor, coach, and support MDMS & AGA SW Delivery Implementation Team(s), including integration adapter development.
•    Responsible for providing development of meter data management systems and advanced grid analytics to transform advanced metering infrastructure data into actionable information for the utility industry. 
•    Responsible for overseeing the performance of technical aspects of projects from inception to completion.  Design, develop, and integrate solutions, while consulting with infrastructure architects and ensure that technical projects progress according to the project requirements.
•    Ensure designated functionality in the software products that L+G develops. 
•    Produce system documentation, including functional and system requirements, matrices, and narratives, as requested by the company’s technical leadership.  
•    Work closely with product managers and project managers to define, prioritize, and communicate requirements to product development and quality assurance teams.  
•    Work closely with product management, marketing, and sales on direction and product features for new versions of the L+G's software products.
•    Provide pre-sales assistance and formulate sales strategy on key accounts. Respond to RFPs and participate in pre-contract sales efforts.
•    Investigate vendor solutions for product integration and cooperation. Perform business process modeling, requirements analysis, and use case development through customer and/or systems integrator discussions while functioning as a subject matter expert, understanding how L+G solutions fit into client requirements. 
•    Generate solutions and help customers to understand the impacts of these solutions on business efficiencies. 
•    Develop software using Agile development methodologies and apply expertise in system design principles and software development methodologies for SQL, Java/J2EE and/or Python.
•    Serve as a consultant during early project phases while putting together requirements in response to customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), confidently present technical solutions and value-added services to potential customers when requested and may participate in some contract reviews and/or negotiations.
•    Define and implement additional professional services to L+G customers.  
•    Perform consultative system analysis to assist in designing and coding middleware translation and conduct system audits to determine infrastructural improvements for customers.  
•    Define and deliver best practice business processes for clients.  

 

Education and Experience

•    Bachelor’s Degree in job related discipline required.  Master’s Degree preferred
•    5+ years of profession and technical experience in supporting/managing system implementations
•    Utility experience is a plus

•    A general working knowledge of Relational and NoSQL Database, including general architecture and basic configuration.
•    General understanding and knowledge of security features, their usage and configuration, such as private/public keys architectures, certificates, SSL tunnels, multi-level security zones, mutual authentication and key managers, as applied to authentication and communication in large-scale environments (Security certification a strong asset).
•    Understanding of High availability design/architecture and common disaster recovery scenarios.

•    Knowledge of cloud architecture and various deployment strategies (Cloud Certification preferred).
•    Data modeling and SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, etc. (4 years minimum).
•    XML and related technologies such as SOAP, WSDL and XSD (5 years minimum).
•    Enterprise application development with Java (5 years minimum).
•    Working knowledge of data transformation patterns and techniques (5 years minimum).
•    Experience with data access patterns and frameworks.
•    Experience with web UI technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript strongly preferred.
•    Excellent customer service and customer relationship management skills. 
•    Excellent communication skills for RFP responses and customer presentations.
•    Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solving problems and obtaining solutions.
•    Outstanding problem solver and negotiator.
•    Ability to travel approximately 50%.
