Lead Network Engineer

The Lead Network Engineer is responsible to the Infrastructure Manager for installation, configuration, and maintenance of the Landis+Gyr customer network infrastructure.  The Lead Network Engineer coordinates all projects and activities assigned to the Network Team; distributing assignments, updating status, and keeping key stakeholders informed as to progress.  They provide support to the members of the network team and engage with architecting and implementing networking solutions in our customer environments.  When necessary, they engage with external Landis+Gyr customers to provide advice and/or troubleshooting of solutions which enable our customers to access hosted systems and services.  They also engage in proactive monitoring of the network infrastructure, identifying areas needing improvement and managing equipment lifecycle remediation.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with network architects to design and implement functional production networks.
  • Installing and configuring networking hardware.
  • Creating and implementing network security measures.
  • Managing and mentoring junior Network Engineering staff.
  • Conducting regular network performance tests
  • Coordinating networking tasks with the network team
  • Dealing with escalated network support issues.
  • Drawing up network status reports.
  • Reporting to the Manager of Network Operations.
  • Configure, maintain, and document network elements for polling used for AMI meter reading
  • Maintain and troubleshoot WAN/LAN - Dial-up, MPLS, SD-WAN connectivity
  • Represent Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both external and internal customers. 
  • Support RF field wireless devices and remote technical support
  • Support and adhere to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred



  • CCNA or equivalent experience required
  • CCNP preferred
  • F5 certification preferred



  • Minimum:  5 years’ experience in network engineering
  • Preferred:7-10 years’ experience in network engineering



  • Personal Computer knowledge
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds
  • Familiarity with Visio
  • Keyboard/typing skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
