Hardware Project Quality Engineer

This position is responsible for all hardware Quality Management (QM) related activities in Development Projects ensuring a high-quality product is delivered each and every time. A successful HW Project Quality Engineer will research past field, production line, and product development failures. Then, using DFMEA, PPAP and other quality tools, partner with Project Management, Development, and Test to foster continuous improvement of our development process. Responsible for all QM planning of project development gates including generation of a Project Quality Plan, DFMEA, and starting the PPAP process. 
Ensure that product quality meets customer specific requirements
Facilitate and participate in DFMEA sessions with Development team
Assess reliability, stability, and repeatability of the design processes, and implement improvements
Work with all regions to ensure Device/HW/FW/SYS quality best practices are shared between projects
Complete Project Quality Plan template in partnership with the PjM and Project team and manage adherence throughout the project lifecycle
Work with PjM to help developers and extended project team to identify risks, and develop mitigation plans according to the risk/priority
Work with R&D to define the structure of test plans and periodically audit for adherence
Begin populating the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and work with Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) during the hand-off process
Support larger Quality team with end to end complaint management process for all design related product complaints, including leading CAPAs
Support hardware validation team and regulatory conformance
Support field trial (beta testing) and results validation
Facilitate development gate delivery inspections, including test plans and test results, for each gate with the Project team
Supports and adheres to Company’s core values
Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required
Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy
Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers

 

Required Minimum Level of Education: Bachelors Degree
Required Minimum Years of Experience: 7+ to 10

Desired Education/Experience:
A deep understanding of Product Development Life Cycle Phases
Leadership & coaching skills as a Quality expert
Knowledge of 8D, FMEA, DFM, DFR, Root cause analysis, 5 Why and other quality tools for problem solving
Interacting with External Bodies
Documentation and recordkeeping
Audit Planning, performance, and documenting results. Managing closure of observations/Non conformances
Ability to positively influence others without direct authority in efforts to move assigned projects forward
Excellent leadership qualities and the ability to make decisions without perfect information
Excellent change management skills. Ability to accept change and respond to setbacks with minimal disruptions
Ability to work efficiently within a matrix management organization
Facilitation Skills

Provide mentorship and professional development to resources
Willingness to travel up to 5-10%
Operational competency with MS Office Suite 

Required/Desired Certifications:
•    Experience in Software, embedded SW (FW), and Device development for industrial systems.
•    Experience with major project management methodologies (Stage gate, Agile, etc.) as an engineer working in quality or continuous improvement delivering robust business process improvements
•    Experienced in root cause problem solving, implementing preventative and corrective actions
•    Experience developing and employing development standards and best practices
•    Experience working within multicultural Groups and Methodologies internationally
