Systems Engineer III

The System Engineer provides strategic technical leadership on complex end-to-end projects. Their role is focused on the leading edge of new product conceptualization, product specification and integrated system design. They utilize past experiences in developments to help guide the development, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams effectively to the new solution.
As the subject matter expert, the Systems Engineer must understand client requirements and how Landis+Gyr solutions fit into these requirements. System Engineers analyze feature requirements for new or developing products or product lines, transform market requirements into engineering specifications and lead product line architecture or system level design teams. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze functional and market requirements to produce optimized engineering specifications.
  • Produce system level design documentation.
  • Translate technical architecture into work items (user stories) for development team to implement.
  • Present system capabilities to customers, when needed.
  • Manage requirements, user stories and traceability through the product lifecycle.
  • Understand, interpret, and rationalize solutions to complex problems.
  • Work in diverse cross functional development teams including resources both foreign and domestic.
  • Work with System Architects on design and architecture of system solutions
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
  • Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.


Education and Experience
Required Minimum Level of Education: Bachelor’s degree
Required Minimum Years of Experience: 5+ to 7.


Desired Education/Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years designing RF Mesh products and solutions. 
Minimum of 3+ years designing IP-centric products and solutions.
Minimum of 3+ years in Software and/or Hardware and/or Solution Architecture


The Systems Engineer may have experience with any of the following:

  • RF Communications
  • Computer Networking
  • IPV4/IPV6 
  • TCP/UDP 
  • QoS
  • net/Java
  • Database (Oracle, SQL)
  • Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Agile methodology
  • Confluence
  • Knowledge of the utility industry (Electric, Gas, Water)
  • Required/Desired Certifications:
  • Preferred “Product Owner” certification



  • Experience defining software, firmware or hardware requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to convey complex topics to management, to customers and to software/firmware development teams.
  • Ability to work in small teams, as well as independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Self-starter, well organized and ability to work following processes and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps /TFS
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio)
