Firmware Engineer II

The Firmware Engineer II designs, develops, tests and maintains firmware for the Wireless Communication and Networking Devices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, documents and tests Wireless Communication and Network Devices Firmware.
  • Contributes to the development of product design specifications including functional requirements, use cases, detailed design, interface and test plans. Contributes to design verification testing processes and procedures.
  • Assists with planning and support of field installations of Alpha and Beta phase. Contributes to design and code reviews. Contributes to product and system-level test efforts.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
  • Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.


Education & Experience
Required Minimum Level of Education: Bachelor’s degree
Required Minimum Years of Experience: 5+ to 7


Desired Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or Electronics & Communication is required. Masters is preferred.


Programming C, C++, C# a plus.
Firmware development for an embedded system.
Development using Real-time operating systems.
Use of development and debugging tools in an embedded system.
Exposure to Product Life Cycle and Software Development methodologies.
Familiarity with Wireless communication and Networking protocols.
Experience with RF networks, security encryption and packet-based networks are desirable.
Experience with protocol stacks such as 802.15.4e, 6LowPAN, SNMPv2/3, DHCPv6, FTP is desirable. Experience with Linux is desirable.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Requirement Management, Bug Management tools is desirable.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
