Firmware Engineer II

The Firmware Engineer II designs, develops, tests and maintains firmware for the Wireless Communication and Networking Devices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, documents, and tests Wireless Communication and Network Devices Firmware
  • Contributes to the development of product design specifications including functional requirements, use cases, detailed design, interface, and test plans. Contributes to design verification testing processes and procedures.
  • Assists with planning and support of field installations of Alpha and Beta phase.Contributes to design and code reviews. Contributes to product and system-level test efforts.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s core values.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • Supports and adheres to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
  • Represents Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both internal and external customers.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 to 7 years of experience.

  • Desired Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electronics & Communication is required. Masters is preferred.
  • Experience with RF networks, security encryption and packet-based networks are desirable. Experience with protocol stacks such as 802.15.4e, 6LowPAN, SNMPv2/3, DHCPv6, FTP is desirable. Experience with Linux is desirable.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Programming C, C++, C# a plus
  • Firmware development for an embedded system
  • Development using Real-time operating systems
  • Use of development and debugging tools in an embedded system
  • Exposure to Product Life Cycle and Software Development methodologies
  • Familiarity with Wireless communication and Networking protocols
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Requirement Management, Bug Management tools is desirable. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
