Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for larger projects, establishing technical direction as well as monitoring project management metrics.
  • Provide leadership in design, development, documentation, unit testing, etc.
  • Develop specifications including functional requirements, detailed design, code, and test procedures as part of agile/iterative SDP team.
  • Identify technical areas for improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities.
  • Provide support, troubleshoot, and resolve sustaining issues with high Quality Output.
  • Develop and unit test features in the Company's software products.
  • Conduct code reviews with the team (subordinates) to improve compliance with established best practices and coding standards.
  • Provide detailed & accurate estimates for code development efforts.
  • Proficient in component and/or solution design, development, documentation, and validation.
  • Work on agile development teams, collaborating with multiple cross-discipline architecture teams to develop hardware and software components as part of L+G Smart Grid solutions.
  • Participate in recruitment, development, and mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Proficient in area-specific continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to innovative technology and solutions development and/or validation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expert status with Java, Linux, Google Cloud Platform, and cloud-based microservices architecture.
  • Database scripting (Oracle, PostgreSQL, and/or SQL Server) a plus.
  • Strong Web Services, TCP/IP, embedded S/W programming a plus.
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills.
  • Experience with agile/iterative software design process.
  • Proficiency with development processes, tools, and related frameworks.
  • Proficiency with relevant development and/or validation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of AMI and Smart Grid Systems and Solutions a plus.
  • Advanced design, development, or validation skills in functional area.
  • Ability to understand data effectively to solve problems and support ideas.
  • Ability to understand the code\feature base and drive assigned requests to improve it, such as migrating it to modern frameworks and adding in missing tests.
  • Ability to design well-organized code\testing methodologies.
  • Ability to independently complete\validate medium to large features.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related degree
  • Extensive software development experience (4-7 years).

Pay is in the range of $73,031 - $112,955 per year.  The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.  All candidates are encouraged to apply.
