We're looking for an experienced Software QA Engineer to join our high-profile team.  You will be responsible for delivering excellent software products to an international audience! This is a challenging and exciting position where you will conduct testing activities on software development projects within the Software Engineering department. 

Responsibilities include the design, execution and management of test plans, scripts, and cases, set up, configuration and implementation of test environments, and the identification and management of issues for each development project. Working experience in Software development and agile are needed. 
Handles R&D hardware, firmware, software, and completes solutions projects as part of a cross-functional team.  Collaborates with team members and other R&D teams in design, development, and validation of complete Smart Grid solutions.  Collaborates with team members for component delivery. 

Key Responsibilities

•    Under general direction, plan and perform engineering duties for part of a major project or for projects of moderate complexity.
•    Create, revise, and execute test plans and test cases.  
•    Communicates effectively and works closely with internal and external resources. 
•    Provides status reports and participates in departmental and project team meetings and email communications. 
•    Identifies testing risks and proposes solutions to mitigate. 
•    Provides escalations in a timely manner and through the appropriate channels. 
•    Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with cross functional team members. 
•    Provides input into continually improving quality processes and procedures. 
•    Serves as an escalated support resource for products released. 
•    Work directly with software and firmware developers to ensure requirement implementation/verification correctness and to review test case coverage. 
•    Detect, document, and track system defects throughout the SQA process.  
•    Write software defect reports. Identify and record the exact sequence of activities that were performed to produce software malfunctions. 
•    Investigate software defects and problem reports to provide additional information in the report to aid defect fixing. 
•    Review defect reports submitted to TFS for validity. 
•    Submit change requests against the software when requirements are incorrect. 
•    Review log files and other run-time documentation for defects and issues  
•    Follow project and corporate software plans, standards, and procedures to perform software verification. 
•    Develop manual and automated functional and regression tests for web services and web-based user interfaces. 
•    Participate in meetings regarding requirements and ensure software meets these requirements.
•    Acts as technical authority in areas of specialty on assigned projects.  
•    Assists all levels of software/firmware engineers, and project managers with design, testing, prototype building, test data set creation, and other     activities related to testing. 
•    Uses established policies and procedures to complete work assignments. Work assignments are varied and of high scope and complexity. 
•    May be required to use specialized computer applications to perform duties.  
•    Must be extremely adaptive in responding to ad hoc testing issues that arise, and still be able to successfully multi-task and prioritize to meet     scheduled testing objectives.       
•    Contribute to component and/or solution design, development, documentation, and validation. 
•    Work on agile development teams, collaborating with multiple cross-discipline architecture teams to develop hardware and software components as part     of L+G Smart Grid solutions. 
•    Participate in recruitment, development and mentoring of junior engineers. 
•    Contribute to area-specific continuous improvement initiatives. 
•    Contribute to innovative technology and solutions development and/or validation.

Education: 

•    Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field

Experience: 

•    3- 5 years of test development experience and engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Must possess strong written and oral communications skills. 
•    Excellent troubleshooting ability 
•    Team player with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills  
•    Ability to proficiently utilize standard computer applications as they relate to software/firmware development and testing. 
•    Such programs may include, but not limited to: Linux Shells, Wireshark, Terminal Emulators, and various editors. 
•    Languages 2 or more years of test tool, test automation, or production-level programming experience with any of the following is desired (in order     of preference): Python, ANSI C/C++, C# 
•    Experience with Linux/Unix set up and configuration is desired. 
•    Understanding of configuration issues related to software development.   
•    Experience with Agile Methodology 
•    Experience testing web services for functionality, load, and scalability 
•    Experience testing HTML5 based user interfaces. 
•    Experience testing software with database components - Oracle, Postgres and SQL Server 
•    Experience with source control and automated build systems 
•    Experience working with the full software development life cycle. 
•    Knowledge of development processes, tools, and related frameworks.
•    Knowledge of relevant development and/or validation methodologies.
•    Knowledge of AMI and Smart Grid Systems and Solutions.
•    Advanced design, development, or validation skills in functional area.
•    Ability to understand data effectively to solve problems and support ideas. 
•    Ability to design well-organized code\testing methodologies. 
•    Ability to complete\validate medium features with minimal oversight. 
•    MS Office Suite 
•    Very good Windows experience and exposure to Google Cloud Platform
•    Experience with Quality Assurance Test Tools.  
•    Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills. 

Working Conditions 

•    Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor.  Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc. 

•    Driving Status: May require occasional driving

•    Physical Requirements: Required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch;  handle and lift/ move objects up to 10-20 pounds.  Spends frequent time handling, positioning, gripping and manipulating objects and devices.  Ability to sit for extended periods and view computer screen for long periods of time and observe details at a close range. The ability to see, hear, & speak Information so others understand.    

•    Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSA Safety Requirements:
Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $83,500- $100,600 per year.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.  All candidates are encouraged to apply.
