Associate Engineer, Software Development

Key Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, plan and perform engineering duties for part of a major project or for projects of moderate complexity.
  • Create applications using the .NET Framework and C#.
  • Respond quickly to changes in requirements.
  • Assist with testing software in a live environment.
  • Contribute to component and/or solution design, development, documentation, and validation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Object Oriented Programming Concepts.
  • Experience with C#, ASP .NET, .NET Framework 4.5+.
  • Experience using WCF, WPF, MSMQ, XML, SOAP, MVC, Unity Framework, and Visual Studio Unit Test Framework a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server.
  • Tools: TFS, Visual Studio, Git.
  • Appropriately applies engineering principles and concepts to area of specialization. Can draw solutions from formal training and experience.  
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific engineering practices (coding, HW design, etc.).
  • Ability to learn to use data effectively to solve problems and support ideas.
  • Ability to understand the code\feature base and deliver assigned improvements.
  • Ability to complete\validate small features with oversight.

 

Accountabilities

  • Uses established policies and procedures to complete work assignments. Work assignments are varied and of high scope and complexity.
  • May be required to use specialized computer applications to perform duties. 
  • Must be extremely adaptive in responding to ad hoc testing issues that arise, and still be able to successfully multi-task and prioritize to meet scheduled testing objectives.      
  • Ability to work on complex R&D projects under the supervision of more senior team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across audiences and through multiple mediums.
  • Ability to work with others of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to stay current on changing technologies and their applications in the utility industry.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
  • 0-2 years of Experience in Software Engineering.
  • Experience with C# or equivalent experience in other High-Level OO code bases (Java, C++).

Pay is in the range of $57,100 - $78,550 per year.  The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.  All candidates are encouraged to apply.
